Health Ministry Committee
The Health Ministry Committee seeks to involve the entire congregation in a healing ministry to each other and involve the community also.
We endorse the Parish Nurse Ministry concept of whole-person care: being well in mind, body and spirit. We hope to improve the health, well -being and quality of life in the congregation and community.
PROJECTS OF HEALTH MINISTRY COMMITTEE
- QUARTERLY HEALTH FORUM: Wednesday evening dinner speakers related to all aspects of health.
- TRANSPORTATION CARE TEAM: Provides needed transportation to Doctors, Dentists, or grocery stores for those unable to drive.
- ADULT EXERCISE CLASS: Will accommodate all fitness levels. Mile Makers Club before and after exercise time. Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30AM - 10:00AM in Family Life Center Gym.
- SPONSORING COLLECTION OF DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT: Walkers, canes, crutches, bedside commodes, etc. are housed at the Women's Care Center Resale Shop at 540 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Fl. Telephone (386) 424-1538. For sale and/or rent. Please donate used equipment to maintain inventory. Inform others where equipment is available, and utilize equipment from Resale Shop.
- MEAL CARE TEAM: "Helping Hands Food Ministry" provides frozen meals on an as needed basis to families in the congregation and community. Each particular need will be evaluated on and individual basis.
- SEWING/QUILTING/KNITTING CARE TEAM: Geared to helping the homeless as well as expanding to other groups in need. It is in the organizational stage.
· We also arrange and sponsor CPR/AED certifiction classes when needed.
